Culinary Showcase

Culinary Showcase is my final exam for my students. It showcases all the Future Ready Skills they have been learning all year. It is a plate and serve event.  We use real plates, silverware and napkins. Students are required to sell two tickets, but can sell up to 5. Students compete to have their menu chosen for the night. After going over menu writing, I assign student to create and write menu descriptions for a menu that the would like to serve that night. It must have a meat, two vegetables, bread and 4 different desserts. After students write menu we vote and I grade on how well the menu is written. The slides are below. Senior students are placed in charge of the front and the back of the house.  Back of the house: plate salad, entree and dessert Front of the house: students must preform table service, table-side, napkin folding. All classes work to prep food.  Pictures of the event are at the end.
